Alternative announces Red Eye, Black Eye
New York release party on February 1
I'm always up for another release from Alternative.
New York, January 25, 2007, Comic book and graphic novel publisher Alternative Comics has announced the January 31 wide release and February 1 New York book release party for cartoonist K. Thor Jensen’s first graphic novel, Red Eye, Black Eye, described by Publishers Weekly as “one of the first important graphic novels of 2007.”
From Publishers Weekly:
“After losing his job, ending a relationship, getting evicted from his apartment and facing the death of his grandmother and September 11, cartoonist K. Thor Jensen decided a little time spent on the road would do him good. He took a Greyhound bus tour of the United States, staying with many people he had only known through the Internet. Red Eye, Black Eye, from Alternative Comics, is Jensen's 300-page memoir of his trip and one of the first important graphic novels of 2007. Jensen's depiction of reality is stark. It's a collection of small moments, of funny anecdotes over beer and nights out with friends. With that focus, Jensen illustrates the side of humanity often missed by works of art with grander scopes.”
Cartoonist K. Thor Jensen will be hosting the Red Eye, Black Eye New York book release party at Ace Bar located at 531 E. 5th Street on Thursday, February 1, starting at 7pm. “There will be free food including Pop Burger sliders, donuts, cheese balls, chips and moist towelettes for your personal hygiene,” said K. Thor Jensen, “We want to try to replicate the feeling of eating in a bus station as much as possible. There will be large prints of pages from the book on the walls. It will be a good time.”
Red Eye, Black Eye by K. Thor Jensen is published by Alternative Comics. 304 pages; $19.95; 5” x 7½”; ISBN 1-891867-99-7; Distributed by Diamond Book Distributors: NOV06 3235
