PIZZERIA KAMIKAZE: The Movie

Film now in production based on Etgar Keret comic

Production has begun on �Wristcutters, A Love Story,� a film based on bestselling Israeli author�s Etgar Keret�s �Kneller�s Happy Campers,� which is to be released as Pizzeria Kamikaze, a graphic novel illustrated by Asaf Hanuka on shelves late November 2005 from Alternative Comics (ISBN 1-891867-90-3; Diamond Code: SEP05 2687). Etgar Keret�s film, Skin Deep, won the Israeli Oscar as well as first prize at several international film festivals. Over 40 short films based on Etgar Keret�s stories have been produced, and one received the 1998 American MTV Prize for the best animated film.

Dukic helming 'Dance project: 'Wristcutters' to star Fugit, Sossamon

Production has begun on "Wristcutters, A Love Story," a film that stars Patrick Fugit, Shannyn Sossamon, Tim Waits, Shea Wigham, Will Arnett, Leslie Bibb and John Hawkes. Goran Dukic is making his directorial debut.

Written by Dukic, the film comes from the Sundance screenwriting lab and is based on the Etgar Keret short story "Kneller's Happy Campers." It is set in a bizarre afterlife way station, reserved for suicides. Despite a dark setting, the film has comedic elements as the suicides search for lost love and self-discovery.

The film is a co-production between U.K.-based Halcyon Pictures and Crispy Films, with Mikal Lazarev, Tatiana Kelly, Adam Sherman and Chris Coen producing and Jonathan Schwartz exec producing. The privately financed film is shooting around Los Angeles and hasn't yet been set up for distribution.
